In everyday life, time is real.
It is good to respect time and make plans.
And yet, time sometimes feels strange.
Sometimes it flies by.
And sometimes it seems as if it will never pass.
Since Albert Einstein, we know that time is relative.
Movement and gravity can even change it measurably. Time passes differently for an astronaut than it does for someone on Earth.
Maybe We Are Being Deceived
Perhaps time is far more mysterious than we think.
Maybe it is only a construct of the mind.
And perhaps the past and the future exist only in our heads.
In Yoga and the Eastern wisdom traditions, time is less an objective reality and more something connected with mind and consciousness.
The ancient Yoga scriptures say:
The past is memory.
The future is imagination.
We can only truly experience the present.
This moment is the only moment that is really available to us.
The Real Problem
Most people are hardly ever fully here.
They are trapped in the past.
Or they worry about the future.
And from these thoughts come fear, anxiety, and many unnecessary problems.
In the sweet spot of Now, there is no room for thoughts.
There is simple being.
Stillness.
Peace.
Pure bliss.
The Way Back to the Present
Yoga teaches you how to be fully here.
To notice what is happening right now.
Outside of you.
And within you.
Naked Yoga teaches you something more.
To let go of all coverings and all ideas about yourself.
To simply be.
And to experience your true, timeless Self.
Where Are Your Thoughts?
Notice where your mind goes when you do not feel well.
Most of the time, you are somewhere in the past.
Or somewhere in the future.
But rarely here.
In the present moment, you can never be unhappy.
And the more often you visit this sweet spot, the easier it becomes to return to it.
Even in everyday life.
Life Happens Now
Perhaps time really is a deceiver.
And perhaps true freedom begins when we stop believing everything it tells us.
Because life does not happen yesterday.
And it does not happen tomorrow.
It happens now.
Yoga helps you come back to this moment.
And so do I 🙂
