For many, the word “self-love” is where the fun stops 🙂

I've hardly ever met anyone in my life who has found it easy to love themselves.

Some people have a huge ego and think they are the greatest pike there is. But that is something completely different and miles away from genuine self-love and its healing effect.

The fact is that most people find it difficult to love themselves.

Most people say things like: “If only I was ....” and fill in the blanks with:

slimmer, stronger, healthier, more successful, smarter, more lovable, in a loving relationship, etc.


We are reluctant to accept ourselves as we are. But that's just the way we are.

Most of the time, we have a rather negative image of ourselves that has developed over many years or decades.

This has consequences.

You can't just change something like that in a weekend.

Learning to love yourself is a process that only unfolds over time, but then changes your whole life.

On a physical level, naked yoga helps you to get to grips with your body better.

And on a spiritual level?

The Bambemba people in Zambia have a special way of dealing with the personal shortcomings of their members.

If someone behaves recklessly, he has to face all the villagers. Everyone stops working and in a ceremony that can last several days, each member of the tribe talks to the accused person and reminds them in as much detail as possible of all the good things they have done in their lives so far. All their merits, strengths and kindnesses are outlined in detail.
Once the ceremony is over, everyone breaks out in shouts of joy and hugs the person in question, who is now part of the community again.

How about making a resolution to lay the foundations for more self-love in 2025?

Remember, you don't have to like everything about yourself to love yourself.

Just regularly imagine yourself as that person in the story of the villagers above.

Remind yourself of the many good things and qualities you have.

Learn to look at yourself from a different perspective.
