Everyone knows it—the classic yoga pose: the sun salutation. Not only is it a good warm-up exercise, but it is also a complete exercise sequence for the whole body. There are many variations. Today, I will show you the most basic and perhaps oldest variation, the sun salutation according to Sivananda.
Fear keeps you small – naked yoga makes you great.

Abhinivesha – that's what fear is called in yoga.
And yes, it is one of the five main reasons for our suffering in life.
But what exactly makes fear so powerful? And what can you do to free yourself from its grip?
First of all: fear is not fundamentally bad.
When you're walking on a narrow ridge or want to cross a busy road, it's actually quite useful. It protects you.
But most of the time, it gets in your way.
Because the vast majority of fears have nothing to do with reality. They take place exclusively in your head – as shadows of the future that never come to pass, but still cast a dark cloud over everything.
- You're afraid of losing your job.
- You're afraid of getting sick or dying.
- You're afraid of being abandoned.
- You're afraid of not being good enough.
- You're afraid of showing who you really are.
And what do most people do?
Nothing.
They stand still. They wait. They freeze. And they often regret it at the bitter end of their lives.
The truth is: life is always uncertain. And the only person who gives meaning to the things that happen to you is you.
So: what is really holding you back?
What fear keeps whispering to you: “Better not do that. Don't show yourself. It could go wrong.”
What if you simply stopped believing that thought?
Here's the most important thing: thinking doesn't help against fear. Nor does persuasion.
The only thing that helps is action.
And then what happened to the young monk in the following story will happen to you:
One day, a young monk and his companions embarked on a long journey to a monastery. When they arrived, they saw a huge guard dog with enormous teeth and red eyes at the entrance gate.
The dog growled angrily and pulled at its chain to attack them.
They cautiously tried to sneak past quietly at a distance. As they got closer, they could see its blue tongue and saliva dripping from its mouth.
Suddenly, the chain broke and the dog ran towards them. The companions screamed loudly and froze in terror.
The young monk turned around and ran as fast as he could – straight towards the dog. The dog was so surprised that it tucked its tail between its legs and fled.
Courage is not the opposite of fear. Courage is acting despite fear.
And that's exactly what naked yoga is all about.
Are you afraid to show yourself naked? Afraid of being seen – as you really are?
Then don't run away. Run towards it.
Because that's where your growth begins.
